Re: Development of open baffle 3-way plus subs

In a first step ypu can directly go with time-alignment. So you reach a first result without too much effort (including possible traps). Then in further steps you are of course free to dive deeper. You will also learn a lot :) IMO this sequence is way better than to start immediately with a complex ...

Re: Development of open baffle 3-way plus subs

IMO with open baffles a close-up measurement only makes sense for small corrections of the driver itself. But if e.g. the two midrange drivers are wired together it is necessary to measure in a greater distance. Even 40 cm may be too close. And at (the quite usual) 1m distance you have to keep room ...

Re: Combining Virtual Bass Array and Alternative to VBA Pre-filters

It is IMO difficult to discuss this topic. The result can be quite different with different setups. But we can also speculate a bit. When the target is lifted the amplifier/s must boost less for dip correction. Especially in the low frequency region. You can try measurements with different correctio...

Re: Combining crossover types

Yes. You have to properly combinea high-pass with a low pass.

Re: Combining crossover types

Matt,

instead of SplitNJoin you can also try convolution followed by a symmetric CutNWindow. It should be more precise.

Re: Time alignment of drivers in active multiway speaker systems

Matt, the measured pulse also contains information e.g. about the sweep start and end frequency. You can consider a mid driver measured from 1 kHz to 6 kHz as a driver measured from 0 Hz to fs/2 but with an applied steep bandpass filter 1 to 6 kHz. Thus the pulse response also contains properties of...

Re: FD Magnitude sum

Imagine both channels are properly playing. Thus the time domain addition will lead to amplitudes increased by factor 2 = 6 dB. Now imagine that one channel has a phase rotation of 90°at a given frequency, e.g. 200 Hz (see you curves). This means that the amplitude sum increases just by 3 dB. Now wh...

Re: FD Magnitude sum

The magnitude as result of a Fourier-Transform does not contain time information anymore. Thus the sum of the magnitudes will clearly change phase and pulse response. So you can select between a linearphase or minimunphase result. Any yes, the magnitude (= not signal amplitude!) is shown with logari...

Re: Macro4 & ICPA

It is necessary to have some filters defined and enabled in ICPA (macro6) before macro4 can use the ICPA function.
Similarily the prefilter checkbox is greyed out if there is no prefilter existing.
