Re: Macro 6 ?

It was a pleasure to be able to see Uli’s workflow compared to what I normally do. I learnt quite a lot from it. I was previously told somewhere else that Group Delays <100Hz and preringing corrections are not audible so I should feel free to crank up the EPW settings. Trying Uli’s recommendations a...

Re: Macro 6 ?

I think if you didn't get much improvements with ICPA then you should go without it? Hard to know why. I still wonder if you should just skip the corrections >100Hz for ICPA and see if you hear an improvement. But this time around, it's clear the ICPA settings were correct. As for the 5.5/2 vs 6/0.9...

Re: 4 Subs setup in Mitch' video "Understanding the State of the Art of Digital Room Correction"

Watch the video again. Due to their locations and the room acoustics, the front sub has good 20-40Hz uncorrected response but has more peaks and dips between 40-80Hz whereas the rear sub has significantly less volume at 20-40Hz but is flatter between 40-80Hz when uncorrected. So Mitch’s solution is ...

Acourate Version 2 is Fantastic

TL;DR The short version is that Version 2 of Acourate is great because: 1) User interface improvements (which means it’s much faster to get new filters created) 2) Better sonic results (as I got it up and running and created a better sounding filter in no time) The long version is more convoluted. F...

Re: How to measure stereo system with multiple subwoofers

Sorry I misunderstood as I assumed incorrectly when you said DBA, you were treating all 4 subwoofers as a single mono subwoofer system and you have the ability to crossover/split/add the signal accordingly for the left channel and right channel.

Re: How to measure stereo system with multiple subwoofers

I am a bit confused as to why method #2 leads to incorrect results. If you're running left channel signal into left speaker and all 4 subs and you're running right channel signal into right speaker and all 4 subs, then if you have a stereo signal that's identical, your subs should get the low freque...

Re: Macro 6 ?

So the verdict indeed is as the Acourate computation/simulation predicts as always. If I include all the excess phase group delays with Q>40, the coherence of notes coming from the middle is better (as evidenced by the better IACC) but I can actually hear all the frequencies where RT60 has gone hayw...

Re: Macro 6 ?

Thank you for the insight. You are 100% right, Uli. Since I didn't know what I was looking for (or pretty much what I was doing), previously I did notice even with the incorporation of excessive group phase delay of Q=40-60 (which prefilter 0 preserves) worsened the RT60 but I just assumed it was my...

Re: Macro 6 ?

Hmmm… I just tried not including the allpass IIR excess phase group delay filter for Macro 0-3 and then adding them back to Macro 0 and running Macro 4. I’m still missing the couple of excess phase group delays with Q>60. Don’t know why. Maybe it’s how Macro 4 was programmed to create the convolutio...

Re: Macro 6 ?

I removed the allpass IIR filters from Macro 0 (pre-filter) before amplitude preparation. I then added them back immediately before running Macro 4 so that they would be applied only at the end of the process. … From there, I was able to confirm that group delay below 300 Hz indeed matched closely ...
